Your main tasks

Your profile

  • Finished degree in bioinformatics, computer science or comparable field of study
  • Experience developing health IT software, medical/oncology knowledge is a plus
  • Proficiency knowledge of Python and other programming languages (JavaScript, R, PHP), proven experience working with relational databases (SQL) and Django and current web technologies (HTML5, jQuery, CSS)
  • Experience working with containerized systems like Docker
  • Proven track record of IT development best practices: software life cycle, version control and testing awareness in handling sensitive data (i.e. clinical data)
  • Being able to translate clinical and medical information into software

What we offer

Understanding the genomic mutations of a tumor is key to provide the right personalized therapy for cancer patients. In the ”Molecular Tumor Profiling” department we perform such tests for cancer patients. Our bioinformatics and Lab-IT team is the responsible for the crucial task of molecular data interpretation and the development of databases and tools which can help and support clinicians in their medical decisions.
For this role, we are looking for a skilled Medical Software Engineer with the crucial task of bringing together the molecular tumor data and the clinical information of the patients. This is an ambitious project which aims to change the way patients are treated. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team involving different departments within the USZ.
We offer you versatile, exciting, and scientifically interesting projects in an interdisciplinary team working in modern molecular diagnostics at the Institute of Pathology and Molecular Pathology of the University Hospital Zurich. We cooperate closely with the physicians of the USZ to provide high quality tumor profiling tests in a timely manner for our patients. In addition to diagnostics, we work in many clinical studies with internal and external international cooperation partners.
